📖 Our story — why connection matters

Like many LGBTQIA+ people, Alex lost much of their community after coming out. Years of relationships, familiar spaces, and social support suddenly disappeared. That painful journey also became an opportunity to build something more compassionate, intentional, and connected.

They moved to a new city in search of belonging and found a vibrant community of people from different countries, cultures, languages, and life experiences — connected not by sameness, but by the shared experience of living beyond traditional expectations.

Yet finding an entry point was complicated. Information was scattered, opportunities were difficult to discover, and modern communication systems increasingly prioritized algorithms over human connection.

“Where do I begin?”

Cuirpoint Exchange was created to answer that question: to be an easy-to-find, welcoming point of connection into Costa Rica's LGBTQIA+ community.

Because stronger communities don't happen by accident. They are built one conversation, one relationship, and one point of connection at a time.
